Lee Ann Mengelt

I am a veteran health care worker and community activist. As a respiratory therapist and past Health Promotion Director I have a life-long commitment to health care issues. My career has spanned 30 years with 15 years at the Tipton County Memorial Hospital and 10 years at St. Vincent Mercy in Elwood. Through my passion for health education, I initiated Chrysler's wellness programs in New Castle and Indianapolis and served as Vice President at Health First Consulting in Indianapolis. I have done extensive work with the Cancer Society and Lung Association. I served on numerous organizational committees while raising my children.

For the past 11 years, I have co-coordinated a medical mission to Haiti, leading my organization's humanitarian efforts to change the lives in the beleaguered nation.

I am currently Executive Director of Gateway Health Clinic and on the Board of Director’s for the Muncie Visitors’ Bureau. Through my career, community involvement, organizing a third world medical mission, and raising a family, I am more than qualified to be your state representative. There is no lack of experience, leadership, or work ethic on my part. I will take those skills to the State House.

I am married to Dr. Thomas Mengelt. He served 25 years in family practice and is now an Emergency Room Physician at Ball Memorial Hospital. We are members of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Muncie. I have two children, four stepchildren, and three grandchildren.
